WRITING OBSTACLE
Depict a character's room that reflects their personality.
Try not to focus only on the things that they have or put on display, but the features of their space that reflect something about their personality.
I Wouldn’t Call It A Den
So this isn’t a story but I like the prompt. Sorrin is one of my favorite characters I have made so far and I have never thought to describe his room before.
So here we go:
So I wouldn’t call it a den per se, but there is a bunch going on in there. He has a older stepbrother, but he didn’t come into the picture till Soren was like 12. So he has a perfectly organized mess. You walk in and it’s an obstacle course to his bed. But ask about where his favorite notebook is he’ll tell you exactly what pile and under which five notebooks it is. It’s an organized mess that only he understands.
He doesn’t really keep knickknacks on his shelves or anything. They’re more like random rocks, feathers, nests, leaves, really anything that actually Asher has given him. He feels bad, just throwing it away, so he ends up keeping them.
His bookshelves are filled with books from top to bottom and there’s like no space left. He loves reading and it’s Izen, who has given him all those books.
And then his walls are just covered with pictures and posters, which were not his choice actually. It’s Cove’s. Who claimed when she put him up he needs art in his room. Again he just he loves his friends so he doesn’t have the heart to take them down.
The only thing that is not in order in his room is his laundry. It’s all over the place. The only clean surface in his room is simply his bed and his desk otherwise good luck.
His friends do go in there and clean it occasionally and then he goes off on a rant saying he can’t find anything.
His room is more of like muted tones. It’s like a light gray and a muted dark blue. He was the one who chose the paint and he painted his room.
I think the only knickknack he has in his room that was by his choice is a giant piece of driftwood. None of his friends really notice it, but it’s actually has an important meaning behind it. When they were all seven, they went to the beach and found that piece of wood and carved their names into it . Couple years later, he came back and got it and took it home.
So yeah, that’s Sorrin‘s room… I wouldn’t call it again but really it’s what it is. It’s fun.
