POEM STARTER
Mysteries of the Night
Whether something natural and beautiful like the stars, or something more sinister, write a poem that focuses on things that are most prominent at night.
What Lurks
I would go for a ghost,
A shadow with a mind of it’s own,
Undesired by most,
Just something to be shown
I don’t need much,
Just a taste of what I crave;
Even just a touch
Of what lies beyond the grave
I used to be scared of the dark
Something flashing in my peripheral
One that could leave a mark
A creature of peril
Now I wait at night
But no matter how long
There comes no fight
It shouldn’t feel wrong
But where is my monster?
Under the bed?
Where is the robber
Meant to bring me dread?
Even my monsters have left
With wide eyes, cursed smirks,
And I’m free of theft,
So have I become what lurks?
