WRITING OBSTACLE
Depict a scene set on the beach of a world orbited by two moons.
Rather than directly describing this scene, try to 'show' the world that it is set in by adding unique elements to the story or characters.
Path Of Lilys
Underneath Arisdur's double moons lay a silver beach. The crystal water reflected the bright glow of the heavens, dousing the earth in cool light. Eldarien’s soft shoes whispered over the sand. Her light dress billowed in the gentle breeze. Its fabric rustled with each step. Her shining blue eyes gazed over the petals of millions of white lilys. Their milky petals moved with the tides ever-changing flow. The stars twinkled as they looked down over the land. As one, thousands of voices rose up from behind her.
“The stars spun in heavenly realms,
The winds blew fierce upon the oak,
The warriors with their silver helms,
Fell to the earth in frozen choke,”
The rains fell soft upon the ground,
The blight drew near in mortals day,
The trumpets blew their mournful sound,
Under night our people lay,
Oh where does my pain flow,
Oh when will this darkness pass,
Will I someday know,
How far that old river goes,
My heart now drained of all my hope,
My feet now stumble in my pain,
The world in quiet stillness spoke,
Under the nights endless reign,
The lily white rests on the water,
The silent breeze blows on until,
I see the beauty of ocean daughter,
My blood turns to frozen chill,
She calls me now to fly over sea,
She calls me now to walk its path,
Will I someday return, to were I used to be,
Will I someday see my home, clothed in royal sash,
We lift our sword in mighty sweep,
We chant our chorus in swift beat,
Our hearts longing to take the leap,
The world set in broken sheet,
We go to evange the blood,
We go to reclaim golden halls,
Which they brought down in sobbing flood,
Oh, Eldorien, hear our calls,
The heartbeat of power,
Stretches out its hand to you,
In lilys white flower,
Our steps made haste and flew,
This is our final fight,
This is our revenge on those,
They who tried to smite,
Only Elven kind knows,
Oh where did my spirit go,
Oh when did you flee from me,
Will I someday know,
Under the stars I plead,
Under stars I plead.”
Their lamenting voices murmured as the song ended. An earth shaking “boom” filled the air, Eldarien took a step. Another boom. Another step. On the third she reached the water and knelt. “Boom…” Her pale white hand reached out from under her cloak. “Boom…” Her delicate fingers closed around a soft, white lily. She lifted it to her lips and whispsered. “Boom…”
“Elyon ilsdori modlier,” the words of power vibrated in the air. “Boom…” She stood and let it fall to the water. The air all around them shimmered with an erie light. “Boom…” Suddenly,
The flowers seemed to flow into one. Each petal delicately placed to form a white path. “Boom…” its final hit vibrated. Then, with cloaks drawn near, they stepped as one into the unknown.
Across the endless sea.
