Chapter 39
Chronicles of Clay
(Finish what you started, please.)
Should the clay say to The Potter,
“Why hast Thou maketh me so?
For I thought Thee hath made me
for Thy good things alone!
But here I hath suffered,
I breaketh by day!
In hell I hath wandered,
in mine pain and mine rage!
Be it Thou shatter me,
so to make me a dust,
thence with water
give me forme of beauty or such!
Give mine shape only riches,
mine vessel be comfort!
So that no more I winceth
and mine shell no more contort!”
_ _Here, we come to conclude:
“But alas, I hath spoken
to The Hands that have made:
I hath spoken in anguish
and yet Thou hast sustained
all mine breaths in mine sorrows
in each hour and day
for Thy glory; I’m borne
and for Thou I shalt break
but for these fleeting moments
I shalt carry this flame
and thence once Thou art readied
I shalt carry Thy Name
