I woke up and realized it was because someone or something was knocking. I rubbed my eyes and reluctantly squinted toward the window next to my bed, scared of what I might see. I blew out an exaggerated exhale when there was nothing there and was about to lie back down, when I heard the knock again. I froze. The knock got faster, and then louder; it was coming from the vanity mirror above my dresser.
