POEM STARTER
Awakening
Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.
First Night At Home
The wrong person fit into the body of the perfect one
Never pressing the right button on the console
I have the tools
I know the answer
The only words the come out are harsh, red
The soul of the wrong one
Thrashing, spiraling
Instincts pulling her out of the dark
This dread is poison
This aching heart
The whole world is in front of me
What if I mess this up
What if I mess us up
What if I mess her up
What if I get it wrong
The weight of the world is heavy like an elephant
Anxiety will pass
My rock will be planted
The world will smile
My heart will sing
I’m learning the controls and
My soul
Quite, calming, waiting
