POEM STARTER

“I perished, but sadly, failed to die…”
Write a poem containing this line. What could it mean?
Unfortunate Circumstances
You knew things weren’t well
I was struggling at home
I was struggling at school
My mind a prison that someone must’ve lost the keys to long ago
My heart a fortress of pain
But you were the light
And you knew it
If I stay, you stay
We live for each other, you said
And then you left
A few words, a simple goodbye
And you were suddenly a stranger who apparently lied
Losing you broke parts of me I didn’t know existed
The slowly healed scars split open wider than before
I bled till there was no more left to bleed
My body a desert, my eyes like leaves in winter
I wanted it to end, who was I without you
My bestest friend
In your absence, I lost myself
I perished, but sadly, failed to die
