POEM STARTER

Summer Nights To School Flights
The popsicles melted as the waves belted. The everlasting feeling of warmth, did not provide comfort like before. The lies the sky spoke, made teens begin to choke. A place of learning, now a place of demise. A hope and yearning, only belongs to the wise. A promise was broken from beginning to end. A start so sweet, a fate dreading to meet. They speak with such passion, they lie with such ease. You can’t try to ration, lack of apathy. A sanctuary to the young, a prison for the old. If you once belonged, you don’t anymore. The ocean made for swimming, becomes a way to drown. However you must go through it, no good way around. Running to the shore, only finding more work. They did warn you, I’m sure: of the beasts that lurk. Now as the sun sets, the end draws near. Losing hopeful bets; dreary fear. The games are ending, it’s time to fold. It’s unfortunate how the sky full of stars seems dead and cold; a place once magical now hurt to behold.
