WRITING OBSTACLE

In another dimension, dinosaurs walk among humans, but they’re not at all like how the archeologists of our world predicted…

Write a descriptive scene about what dinosaurs are really like.

At The Traditional Market

Lola lost her mother somewhere inside the market.

The market goers’ voices played the music of bargains and barters. They rolled around with shopping carts and other general cabooses.

“I’ll find her. I just need to walk around a while, or maybe I could ask a salesman. Where does she go again?” The sun in the sky told her it was about noon. Lunch, maybe? “Oh, she goes to O’Rider’s! I’m sure she’ll be there.”

As Lola walked through the market, she passed people with their bags and dinosaurs with their baskets. A few of the shop sales people called out from their tables. One that caught her eye specifically was a Raptor with a white coat buttoned down the front. He wore a toque. The breads at his table scented the air like cinnamon.

She really wanted cinnamon bread. Never mind that, she told herself. On to O’Riders’ shop.

Down a right angle and to the left, she found that old Triceratops. He was standing behind his table, grilling up minced lamb on kebab sticks. He wore an apron over a T-shirt that just said, “All Star”.

Upon seeing her, he waved and said, “And what can I do for little Miss Lola today?”

“I’m missing my mother. Have you seen her?”

“No, but if you want, you can wait here with me to see if she pops by. I bet she’ll show up here.”

Behind his table, she took a seat on a stool near the food. Mom will show up eventually, or at least that’s what she told herself.
