POEM STARTER
Moonshine and Moonlight
Write a poem which centres on these words. How can you pair these similar words with very different meanings in a poem?
Moonshine In The Moonlight
Moonshine sippin’ as the liquor drips down his cheek,
You see him there but there’s no words to speak,
As the poison fills his body you want him to stop,
But what is there to say,
When you managed to see sunrise,
And the moonlight as he reaches for it everyday.
“Wake up” is a thought but what would that do,
If the moon is now suddenly blue,
And still nothing changes,
Now there’s just change cuz all the dollars are gone.
Wasted on a bottle made to bring you down,
The pick me up that slips and falls.
“I’m here don’t you know that”,
I’m lookin at you but you’re looking through me,
Not even sure what you’re looking at.
I attempt to fill the everclear with the ever clear,
So you could be clear from the path that you can’t even see.
I wanna help but you won’t let me,
I thought water would help but what did it get,
Another argument,
Words that came and went.
“Human’s made it so it has to be heaven sent”,
You’re excuses are lies,
Excuses of being abusive and a nuisance,
Brings a new sense to me,
That the only way to bring myself peace of mind,
Is if you go or I leave.
