What Did You Do?
What did you do?
Glowing
Red orange yellow
Memories of marshmallows
and s’mores
Camping
Charred wood
Smoke
But instead of singalongs
there were
screams.
The little angel
on my shoulder
asks
What did you do?
Guilt
Remorse
Is what I should feel
But I don’t
Not at all
I’m empty
Something is missing
The thrill
It’s gone
It was like
a breath
of fresh air
I felt alive
but -
The little angel
on my shoulder
asks
What did you do?
Again
and again
I light
The flame
A fire
burning bright
In my heart
I laugh
and smile
Until
the flames
go out
and -
The little angel
on my shoulder
asks
What did you do?
The screams
echo
in my ears
like a beautiful
tune
for a shining
show
Ash
and sparks
dance
time
and time
again
until -
The little angel
on my shoulder
says nothing
at all.
