The Immortals

July 1st, 2075

I step out the doors of my concrete house. It’s plain with not many furnishings other than a bed, kitchen, and bathroom. I own a radio, but everyone owns a radio. How else would the tyrants talk to us?

My name is Aria Fern. I’m an West American Colony citizen. Or in short terms, I’m from the WAC.

After WWIII, America was divided, just like many other countries. Since Russia had taken Ukraine and China had fallen to America, the world was in turmoil. This led to revolutions. That led to the American colonies. There were North, South, East, and West with the added South Asian and North Asian ones. It was a divided and hellish decision.

I stared at the busy streets. People of all different diversities lived here. There were rich men and women from the higher sectors, workers like me, and I even saw an Immortal.

What is an Immortal? 25 or so years ago, anti-aging machines were invented. The tech could turn you young in an instant. It was an amazing breakthrough.

When a person (usually of higher status, because it’s expensive) goes in, they come out young and powerful. Then they learned the effects that it could have on you. It could actually give you a powerful gift of magic.

When the government found this out, they started making their soldiers go through it. They marked them with the symbol of immortality and they learned to use their power. The American colonies have one of the most powerful armies in the world.

And they’re monsters. They believe they’re above society. If I ever get my hands on one, I’ll kill them for what they did to me and to my family. The government will pay for their mistakes. All it would take is a little time.
