Diamond & Dagger

All of Caelia’s life she had been told she was beautiful. As a princess, she knew her looks were her best asset. She knew it made her people adore her more. They called her the Diamond. They said she was perfect, flawless and had a sparkle to her that made everyone love her. She had beautiful dark raven hair and bright blue eyes. Her perfect porcelain skin and delicate features made her arguably the most beautiful woman in all of Eldoria.

It was a cool night, the frogs were chirping. Caelia got ready for bed. She knew the sounds of nature and the cool summer air would lull her to sleep quickly. She curled up in a warm blanket and felt herself drift off.

All of a sudden, Caelia was jerked out of bed. She opened her eyes and saw a man in her chambers over her bed. He had his hand pressed over her mouth and a knife pointed at her neck.

“Come with me and don’t make a sound and nobody gets hurt”, the man whispered into Caelia’s ear. Caelia took a look at him. This man looked frightning. He had dark greesy hair and his eyes were black. Caelia started thrashing and attempted to yell for help.

“Stop moving or you will be sorry”. Caelia felt the cool blade press against her throat. _I have to calm down _Caelia_ _thought_. I have to remember what my father taught me._

“Fine, please just don’t hurt me” she whimpered. The man forced her up and walked her to the door. The knife at her back and the man gripping her arm so tightly that she knew it would bruise. Despite his strength, Caelia could tell that the reason he overpowered her was because he caught her by suprise. The way he held his knife,Caelia could tell he was not skilled warrior. She knew she had a chance at escaping vile man. They walked down the stone hallway and she stopped. The knife slightly poked her back.

“Hey what are you-“ Caelia turned around and cut him off by kicking him as hard as she could in the groin. He yelped in pain and let go of her arm. Caelia swung at him hard, making sure to follow through and put her weight into it like her father had taught her. She kicked him and the man fell to the ground in pain.

“How dare you sneak into my chambers in the night” Caelia spit, “You must not have anticipated my skills or else you might have sent someone less pathetic” She kicked him again.

“Please don’t” the man whimpered. _He doesn’t seem so tough now_ Caelia thought as the man begged. Caelia smirked. She loved when people underestimated her. It gave her an edge.

Caelia pulled her own dagger out of her holster under her night gown strapped onto her thigh. Her father taught her to keep this with her at all times. Not many people knew that Caelia’s father had been training her in combat since she was a young girl. She was now as skilled as most soldiers.

Caelia looked into his eyes and without hesitation, she plunged the knife into his chest as hard as she could. She immediately removed the knife and watched the life slowly leave the man’s eyes. She leaned in close to him and whispered in his ear,

“Diamonds are beautiful but they are also strong”.
