The Dark Distinguishes None
Perhaps I wait in the dark while you roam,
You talk and act and sing and lie
While I, well I… I can’t help but stay still
And sit quietly and to the side and sigh
There are differences between us, it should be clear to see
But why judge me when I was once you?
When I was the outgoing friend, who would do everything you now do
And you were me, the silent word who everyone would simply let be
It’s may just be an awkward phase
Or the natural coming of age
But that’s not what I care for
When we are really all the same in our core
Who cares if I chose to stay shy
Or if you want to laugh with some guys
In the dark we are all the same
And in the dark we will for now remain
Trying to find the way to our light
Even if it means leaving behind the comfortability of the night.
