I’m grateful to have my skin,

The flesh and bones I carry within.

I’m grateful for my big brown eyes,

That allow me to see past all the lies.

I’m grateful for the dirt ground,

So I can run away and leave this town.

I’m grateful for the bright sun,

That shows me the path away from the one.

I’m grateful for the sharp knife,

That rests in my pocket to save my life.

I’m grateful for the medical tape,

That stops the blood that threatens to escape.

I’m grateful for the persisting police,

Who chase my father and will never cease.

I’m grateful that I was the prey,

So now I can stand as I am today.
