Late at night we left our lanterns outside and entered the building. Our feet were still wet after crossing a little lake so we wrapped ourselves in a thin old blanket and spread papers right under the window. There were only six sleepless hours to make up a plan on how to break into the palace and take back our lights. At least that's what they kept saying.

King unfairly stole them.

We did nothing wrong.

Probably they were right. However, I still couldn't overcome the feeling that it wasn't that easy.

The sun had long since hidden behind the mountains. But the sky was covered with stars and the brightest moon and lights were alight here. There were no problems in seeing this pathetic semblance of a plan. But it didn't make the situation even a bit better.

Everyone knew: it's impossible to steal something from that place.

Especially for us.

“Why us? Didn't they have better options?” Rey sat with such a pained expression on face.

“You know this quite well. It was just a fortune. Of course no one doesn't want to do it on it own”

“And what are we going to do? I have never even been near the palace.”

“Probably trying to analyse all these schemes and drawings…”

“But it's a total mess” she continued resenting and it really started annoying.

“I know. But stop complaining. Anyway we can’t live in darkness. We need this light.”

Hours passed. Sun started to rise. We had only thirty minutes before going further but still didn't come up with anything adequate. Possibility to be caught now was higher and higher.

“Why did he even do this? I have never really loved him but he isn't that bad king”

Suddenly I froze. Maybe this problem wasn't actually only his fault. During last months our village was immersed in violence, theft, envy and hatred. People only saw each other's flaws and didn't hear them anymore. We could see everything but at the same time we were blind. We stopped being people.

“What if it was necessary? Maybe we should change ourselves first?”
