STORY STARTER
Write the blurb for your first romance novel.
A blurb should intrigue the reader; introducing the main characters, and describing the plot, without giving too much away.
The One
Waiting by the door
Waiting for a call
Waiting for the one, to pass by me in the hall
The one he walks close by me
The one he walks, then stops
The one cannot make up his mind, what is it the one wants?
The one he looks at me
He looks and one day talks
He looks and talks with loving eyes until one day they drop
The one has eyes like a jungle
Tangled and confused
His proud smile like a thirsty hunter, but his treasure he will lose
My eyes are like a jungle too
Determined, wild, and free
My smile is the treasure – a treasure known only to me
I watched the one as he walks
I gaze at him when he stops
He used to walk and stop for me until one day I’m not
I’m not the one he waits for
He stays, but not for me
His jungle eyes they wait for her
Now I see what I could not see
I watch the one as he waits for her
Like he used to wait for me
His jungle eyes have risen from the floor to look, differently
He would barely look with nervous eyes, ashamed of what I could not see
But he looks at her with anticipation, hunger, for what used to be
One day, the one betrayed her
He would lie and steal and cheat
The next day, the one be betrayed me
He did the very same things
The one he lied to me, said he did not, but he did
The one he stole from me, my heart, unguarded it had to give
The one he cheated me, called our jungle eyes the same
He said mine were beautiful
If only his were tame
