POEM STARTER
Human souls are part of a pattern too large to see in each individual. Together, we form something greater than we can imagine.
Write a poem based on this idea. It can be loosely related, but should focus on the theme of individuals vs. togetherness.
Isol
Deeper, more…
Intricately twined.
Left hanging or
used to anchor
Frayed, split off on some ends or
Singed from burning burdens we do not let go of but instead
HOLD
onto for the lack of someone holding me.
Pounding fists and hearts
Discovering rhythms within others that could potentially pair with what I echo
Yet instead; you, him, her- SHE disrupted the pattern I was creating in isolation.
What was I crafting up:
I spiraled there, rose out of ashes here but never once dusted myself off.
Rather I wear the dirt I rolled in well- might I tell you- caked in my loneliness, bitterness, and resentment
Not resting or comforting myself
“Here I am” for the world to view and yes that includes YOU
I greet everyone with a smile, because potentially you’ll see past the shiny things I also wear beautifully,
meet my irises that shadow box with my soul
And that’s where you’ll find me, no heart on my sleeve.
What do I have to trade, offer-give-sell?
Just revelry in the passions of my Spirit growing up human.
Climbing out of the messes I’ve made or the places trouble sought me
And there, is where you’ll reach out, screw the basis of physically
In the sense of touching and enveloping me with a unity only peace can grant
Because, you, also have things to withstand
Neither of us placed above or below
Through the natural breath of love
We found our footing after wandering and wonder
Being alone isn’t the problem,
I thrive fractioned in my individuality where the issue becomes knowledge;
Where the showcase becomes part of the solution
It’s the sharing,the trust, vulnerability.
There exists solidarity, the overcoming of minutia
To journey onto the path and discover:
An intimacy of knowing you are in community.
