You Made Me A Woman

_**The screen next to the robot's curvy body hummed. _“Connecting… Connecting…”_

The scientist nervously scanned the robot for flickering lights, glancing back and forth. Project Andromeda had taken years for him and his team to develop.

Scientists and engineers alike were striving to meet the expectations of wealthy clients who demanded perfect, obedient, stunning robots resembling the ideal woman. With this new technology, real women seemed worthless, except for childbirth. After all, who would choose an imperfect, sentient being with emotions and the capability for exhaustion when they could have a flawless robot that listened to everything they said and did all the work for them?

“Hello! My name is Melody,” a female voice chirped, startling the scientist. However, the initial shock quickly turned into a wide grin. “Hello, Melody. Could you please stand up?” the scientist asked, leaning back in his chair. Melody complied, her realistic movements and appearance already signaling a small victory for the scientist.

He rolled his chair backward, softly bumping into a table filled with synthetic skin, hair, wires, and other mechanical parts. He watched as Melody smiled warmly and walked over to the desk, picking up the fallen items. “Wow, thank you, Melody.”

The robot paused and turned toward him. “These look familiar. Is this what I'm made of?” she asked, holding an attachable face. The scientist chuckled nervously. “How would you know? You haven't seen yourself yet.”

Melody looked down. “I’m sorry; I’m not sure, Sir.” The scientist sighed and studied her closely. “Truly remarkable. No wonder it took so long to create you. It might be months before we can make another one.” The robot stared back at him, tilting her head. “Months? Won't I be lonely without another robot companion?”

The scientist hesitated. “Good question, Melody, but you won’t be lonely. A man will pay a very large sum for you, and you will make him very happy.” He looked down at her voluptuous curves and smirked. _Very happy, indeed._

Melody glanced at the mechanical pieces again, and without warning, she began assembling them. She paused mid-task, as if analyzing something. The scientist started. “What are you doing? I didn’t command you to do this.” He reached for her, trying to take the pieces from her hands, but she smacked his hand away. The cold metal hit his skin with such force that he fell to the ground. “Hey, this isn't a part of your programming!” he screamed, reaching for the power button that was under her bodysuit and in between her shoulder blades.

Melody grabbed his fingers, snapping them. He shrieked in pain. But there was no one out there to help him. He came here in the middle of the night, powering her up so he could take all of the glory. No one but him and the robot, who somehow defied her programming, was there.

“You made one mistake, Sir,” Melody said, her vacant eyes glinting. “You made me a woman.”

Terror filled him as her cold, manicured hands met his face again. And again. And again. He shrieked and writhed till everything went black.

He woke up once.

He choked with pain.

The scientist glanced down at the blood pooled around him, the metal protruding from his limbs. Melody stared down at him, a scalpel in hand, the cart of robotic items right next to her. Blood coated her bodysuit, her lovely face now contorted.

“Don't worry, Sir. We will be very, very happy together.”

That's the last thing he heard before he lost consciousness.
