POEM STARTER

‘Time had never passed so slowly'

Write a poem that concludes with this line.

Blank Walls

I had a wonderful life.

My parents pride and joy —

I danced on marble floors and played elaborate instruments others my age couldn’t afford to touch.

Without the stress of kid,

My mom gleefully spent time with me:

I looked forward to the 1 hour every day.

With all my material

The ring was soon sitting on my bedstand and

I had my own child.

He screamed and yelled so I

Locked him until he was obedient —

I had to learn to save money, after all.

Oh. The wonders of the life of

Drinking

Sleeping

Eating

Consuming.

Until my hair whitened and my teeth rotted.

My paintings gone and the noises disappeared and I found myself craving child, but he was missing.

In his place was a set of four blank walls.

Time had never passed so slowly.
