WRITING OBSTACLE
Choose a lyric from a song and let it inspire you to write a fantasy story.
It can be any lyric you like, but the story should still fit the fantasy genre so consider which lyrics might work best for this.
Sins Not Tragedies
“So how was the wedding this weekend? I heard something crazy went down,” asks Douglas.
“Oh well imagine, as I’m pacing the pews in a church corridor, and I can’t help but to hear,” I shake my head, still in disbelief, “No, I can’t help but to hear an exchanging of words…”
My story is unfortunately interrupted by the outlaw we’ve been hunting finally making an appearance.
Douglas and I make quick work of subduing him and tying him up in the back of our wagon. We head back to the village so the outlaw can stand trial in front of the Magi Council.
“Anyway, what were you saying?” Douglas asks.
I blank for a moment then remember where I left off, “‘_What a beautiful wedding. What a beautiful wedding_,’ says a bridesmaid to a waiter,” I pause dramatically and raise my eyebrows at Douglas, “‘_And, yes, but what a shame. What a shame the poor groom’s bride is a whore_.’”
Douglas gasps, “No.”
I nod.
“I never would’ve suspected,” Douglas shakes his head, “Then what happened?”
I continue, “I chime in with a, _‘Haven’t you people ever heard of closing the g—‘“ _
“What are you on about?” Interrupts the outlaw.
“He’s telling me about the wedding. Big scandal,” Douglas answers.
“Oh never mind,” I say. I give the reigns a snap, encouraging the horses to pick up their pace, “Let’s just get him back and collect our pay. I’ll tell you about it at the pub.”
