POEM STARTER
Inspired by Silver_Fox
If your hand could reach inside my heart, what would you do with it?
Write a poem with this as the opening line
What Would You Do?
If your hand could reach inside my heart,
What would you do with it?
Would you wrap your fingers around it
with the intent to kill or protect?
Would you rip it out,
leaving my love drenching your pillows?
Would you lock it in a box?
Leaving me empty of feeling,
just so you could keep me close?
Would you have it surgically removed?
Strategically cauterizing every vein,
thinking I wouldn’t notice?
Or do you leave it in my chest, along with half of yours?
Would you trust me with your heart?
My love?
I would
not.
Who knows?
Maybe I’ll take scissors to it after an argument.
Leave it out bleeding your affection onto the tile.
Or
I could stitch it back together after someone hurts it,
taking care of the wounds caused,
even if they were not on me.
Maybe I’ll do both,
taking you on a nice winding stroll of
building. Strengthening your attachment
to mine every second.
But then again,
who knows?
