In the darkness, I felt safe. Unseen. That not every part of me was standing stark naked in the public eye, ready to be ogled. Criticised. In days that are full of blaring brightness and sunlight, I search for respite in the shadows of nooks and alleys. The corners of the world where I can remain unknown. I often sit in the darkness of my room. Just listening to myself breathe. In and out. In and out. Petrified of what lays in the dark. Yet somehow striving to find a semblance of peace within the panic. I count by each second that I stay there. My ryes closed, the lights turned off. While I sit glaringly alone. Do I wish to unearth a hidden strength, or do I wish to face my fears? Do I wish to stow myself away so that the world doesn't find me, or do I wish to find myself?
