POEM STARTER

Paper boats, the scent of lemons, and tears.

Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.

Sweet Pea

Out in the garden with Grandma,

Picking lemons off the trees.

Making lemonade in the kitchen,

1 cup of sugar is the key.

Out by the creek with you,

playing on a rope swing.

Making boats out of paper,

Imagining they're at sea.

Sing me one more lullaby,

Before I go to sleep.

I want to hear your voice once more,

Before you say goodbye to me.

Please just stay a little longer,

I will make you a cup of tea.

Just one last conversation,

Then you're free.

I love you, Grandma.

Sincerely, your sweet pea.
