POEM STARTER

Write a poem about a birthday.

This doesn't have to be about your own birthday. What themes could you explore through writing about birthdays?

Bittersweet Birthdays

Time is running like a river

But I’m still stuck at The same old train station

Where you left me to whither

While I fought the complications

Year by year you grow older

And every year you watch as the colours drain

Wish things where the same

How we used to dance in the rain

Sweet Suger blisses Strawberry kisses

Is all we used to know

Halloween and witches Blowing birthday wishes

Smiles everywhere you go

When depression’s just a word

Now stress is just a curse

It’s like a battle of snakes and songbirds

Between Our childhood and the worst

Now we’re masking our emotions

Not masking our scars

They taught us to be cautious

But now we are jumping off stars

Cried tears of sweet honey

But now those tears are scars of poison

Those jokes that used to be funny

Now makes you wanna hate life that you chosen

So now every birthday I just sit in silence

Knowing what the world holds

Knowing what defines it

Because we’re no hero’s were dreamers ,fighters but mostly survivers
