Write a story set on this misty path.
‘The Path’
As soon as Clare got home, she sprinted up the stairs and threw her bedroom door open with just enough force to make her bedside table shake fiercely. After taking a long hot shower in the bathroom, she plopped down on her chair and turned on her computer. ‘Finally! The holidays have arrived!’ She thought, ‘I can’t wait to check out the games I’ve installed!’
After hours of checking out a couple of the games on her computer, she got kinda bored and had already uninstalled a bunch that she felt was a waste of time. Suddenly, she came across a game named ‘The Path’. “Oooh, mysterious one.” She spoke to herself. “But I don’t think I remembered installing this one.”
As she clicked into it, a notification popped up that said:
For better experience, shut your eyes for 5 seconds, and then reopen them to breathe taking sceneries.
“What the heck? That’s weird.” She said as her eyebrows drew together and her lips pressed into a thin line. “Who made this game? It was probably a mistake.” She moved her mouse to the ‘x’ on the top right and clicked it, hoping the notification would disappear, but things didn’t go as planned. The notification just stayed on the screen, as if it were trying to force her to do it. She kept clicking on it, but it just wouldn’t budge, and she threw her mouse to the ground out of frustration. “You know what? Let’s just delete this stupid game.” As her eyes searched the keyboard for the ‘exit screen’ button, she grew more and more frustrated and confused. The exit button had vanished. This was absurd.
“FINE, I’LL DO YOUR STUPID TIP.” As she gently shut her eyes, she started to count. ‘1…’it felt normal, nothing out of the blue, ‘2...’she felt a tingling sensation on the back of her head,’3…’her head was starting to hurt, ’4…’her head felt better now, the pain was gone in an instant, ’5…’it felt so different now…the room had felt way colder than before…the howls of a wolf from a distance…the breeze of a wind brushing against her skin…the sounds of grass dancing around…and everything had felt way quieter now.
As she opened her eyes, she was startled by the sight of the stunning brown grass swaying slightly in the wind, the mountains afar that looked so thin, the large forest that surrounded the grass, and the long path that she had to take. There was mist everywhere, Claire couldn’t
quite make out where she was, or how she was there.
“Where is this place..?” She whispered to herself, confused, terrified and in awe all at the same time. “How am I supposed to get back? Am I supposed to take this path?” There was silence. Of course there was. No one was there. Just a breeze of wind rushing past, nothing more. She followed the trail, not knowing what else she could do. Midway, she heard a howl of a wolf. She didn’t think much of it, just continued walking, but then she heard it again, and this time, it was much closer. ‘It’s just a wolf, Claire. Just a wolf. Nothing to be scared about. It probably just wants to play.’ She thought ironically to herself.
One step. Two steps. Three steps. Every step Claire took felt threatening and risky, and she slowed down each time she took a step. Suddenly, she saw a grey roofed white painted house, but it didn’t make her feel any better. She had to keep walking no matter what. Inside the house was better than outside with the wolves anyway. As soon as she reached the front door, she heard the last howl of the wolf before swinging the door open without hesitation, and shut the door behind her. Inside, there was a living room with a large brown sofa, coffee table and TV infront of it. Everything felt warm and welcoming. Nothing was gonna go wrong, or so she thought.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Said a cheerful women’s voice behind Claire. She froze and didn’t dare say a word.
P.S. should I make a part two?^_^
