POEM STARTER
Submitted by Maranda Quinn
Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds.
You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.
Write a poem that either begins or ends with this couplet.
Yours Alone
Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds.
You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.
To whichever you choose
Choose with will
For you see if you do not
There is sure to be evil up the hill
You must keep growing no matter the stakes
Too much water
Too much sun
You mustn’t break
Don’t let yourself get pulled in from the whispers of greed
For then you will become a weed
Do not disguise yourself as a blue violet
Because with the expanse
Your life will not be private
Put in the work
Go outside
Water your soil
So in return you don’t spoil
Your mind is the only place in which you truly have to yourself
So for your sake and yours alone
Make it a place that in your words you would call a home.
