STORY STARTER
A group of spies venture off into unknown territory. Only some come back.
Tell the story of those who were left behind.
The last realm
(I thought it said species… )
Wow…
I drop to my knees, staring at the huge hole in the mountain.
The mountain, my parents, and other globe members left through, leaving me here with other globe members who were unlucky enough to be left behind.
They planned to leave me, though. It was your main goal, even if it was forbidden to leave your own behind.
They didn’t care.
They were willing to do anything to leave me behind.
I looked around me and the rest of the globe was backing away from me. As if I were some kind of plague. They were crying with their family members in a tight hold.
I looked away from them. Ignoring the crying, this was destined to happen anyway.
Some globes just got away.
Without every group of the globe, there was a seed. A seed destined to explode and take out any realm and people in it.
Globes are given the power to travel through the realm with the seed present.
But once they have traveled from their 100th time. The seed loses its ability to travel and within 5 hours would explode.
Every globe was a bright color of azaleas to represent the very thing that gives us power the sun.
The seed though, was a deep color of black. It was like looking into a black hole.
No wonder everybody was terrified of me. Even my parents.
The second they realized they were the parents of the seed. They cried for a century, My mother would dramatically fall to the ground and cry in my father’s arms every time she saw me.
It was that or they would just ignore my existence completely, they even had me stay in a whole different house from them.
Globe families were always close to each other. We believed that family makes you stronger. But my parents completely ignored that and looked at me in disgust every time they thought no one was looking.
Each time we were phasing into a new realm they would pretend to be supportive and loving parents.
But it was different today.
When phasing it was considered a good omen for only half of us to enter first, reaching safety to the other side of the natural resource we decided to phase through to the new realm we are traveling to.
After they have reached safety. The parents of the seed were supposed to enter pulling the seed inside with them. Once that’s completed the next half was supposed to enter after, successfully completing phasing…
But today things went a little differently. After the first half entered the gate I opened it in the mountain. My parents were playing the loving and caring parents talking about how they were happy that we would be spending our last moments together.
It was tradition to celebrate the last five hours we have together at the last realm. The 100th realm. Every Globe follows that tradition. Until today.
As I was about to enter the gate, for the first time in my life, my parents looked me in my eyes and didn’t hide the disgust they truly felt.
They pushed me, just as I was about to enter. Smiling viciously as they did, the shock made me lose concentration and close the gate when phasing.
No one.
In history has ever left their own behind. The others were left in disbelief, there was chaos shouting. Globes running through the hole in the mountain the gate left.
But they were gone.
There was no way I could keep my concentration. Sudden movement during the phase was absolutely forbidden. Because it could cause the seed to lose concentration.
Looking back at it I guess that was the plan.
That was the last realm. Immediately after the gate closed, I suddenly felt drained and I knew my five hours had begun.
We've been here for a while just staring. The children were crying. We know that time has drastically diminished.
We know we were going to die. Every globe dies after the last realm.
But we died together as a group always.
My parents and the others broke that ancient pact leaving the seed and the last half of the globe to die alone while they saved their selves.
I looked down at my hands that were slowly breaking. My black shell, crumbling right before my eyes.
I didn’t realize some much time had passed.
I sighed, blowing the tall grass at my hand. I must’ve to be the only seed that was going to die alone.
Of course, there were other creatures and the rest of the globe here… but I was truly alone.
Pieces of my shell were falling. The books never talked about the process of a seed exploding. But I think I was pretty close.
Just as I was about to close my eyes accepting my death.
I felt an arm touch my shoulder. My eyes widened in surprise I swung my head around so fast it might have snapped.
It was my soulmate kneeling beside me. A bright azalea color they were. Bringing light to my darkness. They had a supportive smile and then looked ahead.
Slowly more people gathered around me holding me in a protective embrace. My soul swelled each time.
Until it completely swelled and stopped.
And just like that another realm was cleared from the universe.
**The end…**
