"C'mon Xiao Xin, it's a good idea."

"It's a very bad idea."

"It'll make things easier for us!"

"I'm not getting up on that, I'll fall off for sure!"

They'd earned some money helping people throughout their travels and Huo Linghun had decided that getting horses might be a good idea. Upon being met with the price of two horses he exited the city with one horse. Upon being met with the horse, Xiao Xin decided that it was a bad idea.

"You weren't against it when I suggested getting horses to ride," Huo Linghun said.

"That was before I saw how big it was," Xiao Xin explained.

"We'll ride together," Huo Linghun said. "I won't let you fall off."

Xiao Xin was already turning to leave. "You ride and I'll walk," he replied. Next thing he knew he was being lifted and placed on top of the horse. He clung to the saddle and shouted, "Linghun! Get me down!"

Huo Linghun was already swinging up into the saddle behind him. His arms were on either side of him where he held the reins. "See, I won't let you fall," he assured him. "It's not so bad, is it?"

With Huo Linghun sitting solidly behind him and surrounding him on both sides Xiao Xin did feel safer. "I guess it's okay," he said. Then the horse started walking and he instantly changed his mind; "I want to get down!"

Huo Linghun held the reins with one hand and wrapped his free arm around Xiao Xin, holding him close against himself. "It's all right, my Xiao Xin," he said. "Give it a chance. I promise I won't let you fall."

"Promise promise?" Xiao Xin asked.

Huo Linghun kissed his temple and replied, "Promise promise." At this point Xiao Xin had a death grip on his arm so he continued to steer the horse with one hand.

It worked exactly as Huo Linghun had hoped. Xiao Xin couldn't travel as far as he could on foot- riding a horse for longer journeys really was a good idea. Toward the end of their ride Xiao Xin had fallen asleep against him, and Huo Linghun kept his promise of making sure he didn't fall off.
