WRITING OBSTACLE

Describe the colour of a character's soul.
You do not have to tell the reader who the character is; focus on description and metaphor.
Eyes Of Fate
“Do you know the color of your soul?” She began, “Everyone’s always talking about aura or presence, but nobody talks about the soul. Not the color, at least.”
“Does that matter?” I ask, blood trickling from my split lip onto my chin.
“Yes,” her face hardens as her eyes dance around my face, down by body, as if drinking every inch of my being without lifting a glass.
“So, what’s the color of my soul?” I ask, hoping to keep the curiosity out of my tone. At least if she was talking I wasn’t getting punched. But her question did intrigue me.
“Silver,” she said almost instantly, “In all my years of meeting people like, well, you, I have never seen someone with a silver soul. Your aura is red, that much is obvious just from the way you present yourself. You are driven by a force more powerful than your mind, you are dead set on your goals and completing your mission to a tee. Your passion to your craft glows heavily around your hands and the crown of your head,” she takes a breath and centers herself on me. “But your soul glitters with silver specks of light, dancing through your bones from your crown to your soles. I had mistaken it for your aura at first glance. It’s strong. But it’s also small. It reaches from your crown to your souls yes, but it only reaches your ears, shoulders, and hips in width. You are letting your soul slip away to reach your goals, your passion is clouded by your desire. It is your life force, and you are playing with it like a cat with a ball of yarn. I see tears on edges, leaks pouring out into the atmosphere. Those specks in your soul that I see, they are a disease, pulling you deeper into madness, feeding on your desire to win at any cost, no matter the cost,” Her head rose so her eyes were looking down at me, showing me she was in control. I swallowed, but by mouth was filled with dry blood and fear.
“I told you I had never seen a silver soul in someone like you before, a warrior. I have seen silver in one other person previous to our encounter.”
“Who?” My desire to know flooded my fear, and my heart twang in pain for a split second. Her right eyebrow peeked in time with the pain.
“Me, my darling. Though, this late in the game, my soul is practically gone. And if you keep going down this road of desire over reason, you and I will have a lot more in common than our true color. And at this pace, you’ll be soulless faster than me.”
