POEM STARTER
Comfortable Silence
Write a poem with this theme. Silence is often described as something negative; instead explore it in a positive light.
No Words Needed
They say that silence is golden,
I agree, when it is around you.
Just quietly comfortable holding,
No words needed between us two.
As you sit and you read your book,
And I play my gaming device.
You snuggle up into my nook,
And I think, “well, isn’t this nice.”
The kids asleep in their beds,
And the fire crackles gently.
But alas, this is all in my head,
A fiction that only I see.
The laughter is gone from the hallway,
The pillow on your side is cold.
My dreams full of that fateful Fall day,
Your hand I can no longer hold.
Gone but never forgotten,
You meant more to me than you know.
Left on my own, feeling rotten.
The doctor says I must let go.
