This is the last week I’ll be here, so I’m saying goodbye.

Goodbye to the lovely window in my room, goodbye to the familiar dents in the wall, and goodbye to the carpet I lay on when I’m upset.

Goodbye to the things that stuck around until I didn’t need them anymore.

Goodbye to all the places I’ve memorized; the field past the dead end, the bridge on the way to school, the highway that lights up at night, the one-way I grew up visiting, the airport I watch tiny planes take off from, and the grocery stores that recognize me as a regular.

Goodbye to the place I had my first kiss, and all the other places we kissed at after.

Goodbye to the sidewalks that carried me through any and all emotions.

Goodbye to the people I never got to know, and see you later to the ones I did.
