POEM STARTER
Comfortable Silence
Write a poem with this theme. Silence is often described as something negative; instead explore it in a positive light.
Solace
In fleeting glimpses,
I behold the charming face,
That has renounced everything
In the search of solace.
The eyes said more than
Words ever could,
The mind raced faster than
The legs ever could.
In the eyes, was a window
To the chastity deep inside
Where the innocent thoughts,
The childish soul are confined.
The face belonged to a girl,
But the heart to a bird,
Clamouring to return to the skies
Where it was free, it’s cries would be heard.
The lips curled in a melancholic smile
The eyebrows furrowed to a trounce,
Perhaps she had forgotten that
The distress was but a temporary cloud.
Nearby, the river silently flowed,
The leaves rustled softly beside,
The water washed the girl’s feet,
As she stood up silently to start to stride.
The girl found solitude in the midst of woods,
In the company of the forgotten, the abandoned,
She loved it where the sky was blue and the air pure,
With the heroes unseen, the villains unsure.
I could never realize when the time passed so fast,
That the child within Now seeks refuge,
where the silence engulfs the heart,
Solitude has the soul deluged.
