So many things killed me

Yet here I stand

Nowhere to call home

My legs walking along still

Its difficult to explain

How a sword could pierce me

Then I’d wake up as fresh baby

My own mouth crying

Not out of my own volition

I’m supposed to forget

These lives that forged me

Once the next one comes along

I perished, but sadly, failed to die

As true death is starting over

No history

No baggage

No eventual dread at what is to come

So I’ll pretend to be happy to be with family

Knowing one by one they’ll go

Act as if I haven’t been in this endless cycle

Of love that ends with them leaving first

Try not to go with them

To the abyss

Where they won’t remember me

But I will remember them

For years and lives to come
