STORY STARTER

Write a scene where a character quits, or is fired from, their job.

This could be based off real experience, or entirely made up. Think about why they have to leave, and the ramifications of doing so.

Unfairly Occupation

Taking on these long nights should be worth it for Satchura. After all, she gained pretty little wings for accepting the job.

A second job, one that should be easier than her first job she does in the daylight, which is being an accountant.

Late at night, Satchura flies through the streets, appearing like a firefly from a distance to anybody who seen her. She pulls out her map and the list of names beside it.

“Chesmir Wulixon.” She said, glancing between each house she flew by.

Shortly after, Satchura found the house she was looking for and flew inside an already opened window.

There he was, Chesmir Wulixon, nested like a true six year-old between the pillows and covers.

Satchura landed on the bed admiring his soft brown skin, chubby cheeks, big round nose, and cute little hands tucked under his face as he lies on his side.

Barely a second to react, Chesmir releases a humongous amount of snot from sneezing, coating Satchura in it. Her mouth was agape at boogers hanging out of her mouth. She spits it out placing a quarter beneath his pillow in exchange for a tooth then dips.

The very next day she walks straight into her boss’s office and tells her, “Dellavenus, I quit.” Placing her glittering uniform on her desk.

“What?!” Dellavenus widened her eyes, staring at the uniform. “Why?”

“Because I had it with these kids!” Satchura responded. “One sneezed a chunk of boogers on me and it got in my mouth. That is the fifth time this happened.”

Dellavenus stared at her in disbelief. “Are you serious?! You have one of the most simplest job a tooth fairy could have! You want to be back to being a boring accountant?”

“Not only that; I have to endure parents randomly popping up on their child shutting windows when I’m getting ready to fly to the next child. Or the kids mistakes me as firefly and try to kill me!”

Dellavenus couldn’t help but laugh. “Who kills fireflies?”

“Apparently kids who never heard of one before.” Satchura said.

Dellavenus laughed some more. “No, but seriously,” she said. “Your quitting because a simple ball of snot landing on you?”

“Yep.”

“But I chose you and even granted you luck for life as long as you were a tooth fairy.” Dellavenus said.

“Look, I appreciate what you done for me, but I’m tiring of barely sleeping after a long night from collecting teeth. It’s time I quit.” Satchura said, on her way out the door.

“Wait!” Dellavenus shouted making her come back. “You know if you leave, you won’t ever become a fairy again, right?”

“I’ll take that chance.” Satchura replied walking right out the door.
