STORY STARTER
After decades of enslavement by an alien race, your character has worked out how to win freedom for mankind.
Tell their story.
Freedom Reign
I am a prisoner. I may be a prisoner of war, or a prisoner of crime. But I can’t remember. The only thing I can remember is this prison, this enslavement. There are others, but have they all died? I don’t know. That’s what I tell myself. I guess I finally learned what freedom is. It’s wherever you can find it.
I pace my room waiting for Yako to come back. “What kind of name is Yako?” The voice in my head tells me. I’ve named her Karen. Apparently where I’m from, Karen is a stereotypical name that whoever has it is rude. Or at least that’s what Yako tells me.
“Hmm, needs more action.” Another voice says. “Hmm.” I muse on the floor of my dirty cell. More of a room, I guess. Yako opens the door, trailing two men. “Well now what?” Karen says. I shrug. “Let’s get straight to the point. We are Acapols. What you humans call Aliens.” That word sparks an image in my mind. “Little green men.” I say absently. Yako stops one of the men from pulling out a gun. “Look, Inmate, according to our sources, you are humanity’s last hope.” I stare confused. “
“Why would humanity want me??”
He gives a shrug.
“Well what’s the problem?”
This time one of the men speaks, “Humanity is rioting, take the deal, you get set free and we get our laborers again.”
Yako gives the man a condescending look.
“You can’t tell him that!” He hisses.
“You could improve on the premise.” The other voice in my head goes. “ I guess I’ll name you Kyle. Kyle and Karen.” I mumble.
“Deal.”
All three men look at me. Shocked and slightly irritated.
“For Hakkas sake Jake! We haven’t even told you the deal!” Yako yells.
Jake. jake…..My name is Jake…
“My name is Jake.” I say, anger rising. Yako swears and puts his hands up.
“We can explain Jake. You just have to let us.”
Electricity crackles at my fingertips. They are black and white.
“You.”
“You trapped me here.”
“Dragged me through my TV screen.”
“On the anniversary of my wife’s death!?” I shriek.
I
Finally
Break.
Electricity spews, sending all three men flying.
“I’ll take your deal…”
“There’s the action.” Kyle says.
“And he says…” Karen responds
“But I think I’ll change a few things.” I explode. My electricity flying, sucking and shutting down everything.
Silence. No screams from people being fryed. Just bliss.
I crack a hole in front of me. Startled I take a step back. “Jake, you have to listen to me… jump.” Karen says. I realize that’s not Karen.
“Lisa..” I murmur. And I jump. To a white static. My wife stands in front of me. Holding a pen and paper. “Did you release me?” I stutter.
“Well, She had a little help mate.” A voice says from behind me. A man wearing a rugged suit stands there.
“The Other at your service.”
“Is humanity safe?”
“Agh mate, did they fry that brain a’yours?”
I shake my head uncertainly, not knowing if they did.
“You were trapped in a TV show, humanity was never in danger. Lisa here just wrote the book adaptation. You’re free.”
I turn to Lisa, “Can I write something??”
She nods.
Jake manages to get his memory back. Lisa and him live happily ever after. And they burn that cursed TV.
The end.
Epilogue:
The Other walks around the Blankroom. “Where in blazes did she put that fated book!” He yells. It pops into existence. “Ah, there you are. You’ll make a great addition to the co- The room warps and everything disappears.
“Oh crap….”
