STORY STARTER
Your character wakes up one day with the ability to hear the thoughts of those around them.
How will you take this typical sci-fi idea and make your own narrative interesting?
Pierced And Bruised
On a crystal clear morning, living on a beautiful island, I—the princess, went downstairs for my morning tea.
“Hello dear,” I declare, my face lighting up at the sight of my husband.
“Hello,” he replies, but his mind is elsewhere.
I wonder how Victoria is doing, A man said.
“Did you say something?” I ask, looking around.
_****_ “No?” He responds with a slight shrug.
_****_“Oh, sorry,” I shake it off.
_****_ Victoria, my sister, walks in, and she is staying with us for the next couple of weeks.
_**_ _She looks beautiful wow. _**__
I hear a man say… wait? That sounds like _my husband._
My eyes widen and I look back and forth. Victoria is looking at James with fluttering eyes, and he is looking at her, his eyes dancing.
_ What is going on? Why is he looking at her like that? Why is she looking at him like that? And most importantly how can I hear them? _
Sudden anger flows through my veins, but I push it down.
**_ _**** He’s absolutely charming in this light.****_ _**
“Get a room,” I say, quieter than a whisper.
“What?” She asks.
“I need to go for a walk,” I bow, then run out grabbing my gown.
I look back and she’s waving, “See you soon!”
I nod, then set out.
I run until my feet can’t anymore, collapsing on the ground. Sobs rush out and I can’t stop it. “Why,” I whisper, my mouth filled with saliva.
“Why!” I scream louder this time, my voice echoing on the mountain top.
I scream again. And again. And again. And then start crying again.
_ My love, my everything, why, why, why why? _
_Why! Why! Why!_
Tears erupt from every part of me, and my heart is weary. The smell of bacon fills the air and I see my feet lead me to our private cabin.
I rush in to clean my gown._ _
_I hope no one saw that. _
