I was taught to keep your world away from mine. To never have you near.

To keep my heart aligned

despite being fueled off of fear.

You’ll never know how hard it is to think with

your mind

When your heart’s been touched in just the shortest amount of time.

Maybe it was from the thrill? The mystery of you, too? Or maybe it was your courage to do the things i could never do.

Maybe it’s the yearning speaking, or the longing

for something else.

but I didn’t know someone who breaks rules

can break the rules

that I set for myself.

I wish I was louder

I wish I was more free

I wish I was more out there

then maybe then you would’ve chose me.

But I know who I am and that’s

the only person I can be

Although, I admire you

I can only be me

I’ll stay quiet and color inside the lines, I don’t mind.

that’s what im supposed to do.

But I’ll always love how you’ll paint the sky purple before you ever paint it blue.
