Cardimum

You still smell like cardimums

The ones that sat on your mother’s night stand every time we ran to her room to escape the shadows on the ceiling

You still echo the low hum of her voice

You’re wearing your father’s jacket

It used to be too big in the shoulders

Now it fits like a glove

It’s hard to look at you and realize that even though I don’t know you

I still know what you’re made of
