COMPETITION PROMPT
Write a poem on the theme of 'Lost and found'.
Conviction
Little were my torments when ignorance reigned
Over my cloudy conscience on hot days.
Sitting in new knowledge I lost my conviction
To speak on pertinent, painful things.
And I lost me, too.
Now that I know there is always more to know
Doubt hugs me tightly because he can.
Flashing a warning when I stray sideways
Opaque certainty hooking in to all I am.
Under the blue, the wondering, darkness too
No one can ignore old mistakes. I am grateful
Dawn embraces the fallen who’s only wish is change
