In my head, the inevitable was delayed.

His eyes, blue as the ocean.

His hair dark, in the form of waves.

As I lay on the bed, I feel safe.

The bed beneath me begins to fade.

I’m in the ocean, full of waves.

The memories come flooding back, in a deep rage.

The man I once loved, causing so much pain.

Seeing him watch, as I fade away.

My breath has ran out, I’m afraid, I can’t find my way.

The last thing I see, his shadow, withering away.

It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.
