POEM STARTER

Write a poem about taking a gamble.

Your interpretation can include the classic ideas associated with gambling, or something more metaphorical.

Playing Odds Like No One Is Watching

Gamble…

Chance?

Hey, you. You wanna dance?

Say no,

I’ll take a chance

asking next song.

And if twice

doesn’t wear on you,

honey—I’ll swear on you.

I’ll go out alone

to center floor

and jump the beat

like no one was there

but you and me,

and you might still say no

but if you do,

I’ll still kill it, slow.
