The people with the brightest smiles

have the hardest backgrounds

The ones who don’t trust the easiest

Has had their trust broken, too many times

The ones who flinch when going to give them a high five or a hug

Has had a hand on them that wasn’t too sweet

The ones who laughed at the stupidest jokes

Are the ones who’s really broken inside

Even a good dog has to bite at sometimes

Even the most calmest person has to yell

Roses are the same way

They have thorns for a reason

Maybe at one point someone’s hand wasn’t too sweet

Maybe at one point, someone just snapped it

Then left it to die

Maybe at one point it wasn’t cared for enough

Maybe at one point they were taken for granted because of their beauty

Letting down your guard is hard

Giving people a second chance

That’s harder

It’s giving that person another bullet because they missed the first time

People have their own thorns that they try to hide

But even then they still show

People have thorns as well and a mix of all their buds

But we smile and keep going despite our problems

We hope that some people notice us

Someone whose hands are sweet

Someone who’s voice is calming

Someone who wants to see us in our worst

not just the best

Someone who loves us despite getting pricked by our thorns
