Just waiting for you
I am sitting on the edge of my balcony with my cat Mia after arguing with my parents.
My name is Ophelia, the legitimate daughter of the king and queen of Tregos, and of course, as a “princess” I have to strictly follow all the rules my parents set. The problem with these rules (ridiculous ones, by the way) started to become ridiculous as soon as I was enchanted by a totally unknown person I bumped into on the street by accident when I had just escaped from my chambers without anyone noticing. I am not usually allowed to be free, so as soon as I left that prison disguised as a home I could feel the wind blowing in my hair and as soon as I felt it I ran as if I could change my cruel and totally lonely fate. While I was running in search of inner peace, I saw a boy of about 18 years old, he was tall and seemed absolutely mysterious. When I looked into his eyes it seemed like he could see the immensity of my despair, despair that no one had ever been able to notice in my whole life, not even the people I trusted all along.
Time froze and I could see the light of my hope. But as soon as I thought I could have feelings of inner light, I could hear the guards coming after me, and when I saw them all with their heavy armor and swords so sharp they could kill a dragon, I gave up almost instantly, the more I tried to run the more I felt myself sinking into the mud floor of the small village outside the bubble of Tregos castle. They dragged me back and as a consequence my parents even forbade me from appearing in public, and that’s how I ended up in front of my balcony hoping that an eighteen-year-old miracle would appear to save me from the depths of my despair.
They think I am a luminous being but that’s because they don’t know half of the things I’ve lived through. They think a princess has an easy life, but they have never seen nor heard everything I’ve been through, it is very easy to judge from the outside when you don’t know the confusion that exists inside.
Will Princess Ophelia’s life forever be a farce?
