What does their life look like?

Theres not much space in here but I don’t complain. In fact, I dont mind at all. I have everything I need in here—although it’s not much. But it’s enough. Enough for me.

I think my favorite part living in a van is the fact that I can live anywhere I really want to. With my best friend, of course—Joe. We do everything together; from morning walks to eating dinner in crusty fast food places. He always makes sure I get a bite of his burger. He’s my favorite person in the world.

Morning’s are always rough—atleased for Joe. I sleep in the front, on my very own blanket Joe bought me, and he, well he sleeps in the back. Every morning I see him crumble into a tiny ball in one of the old, squeaky seats. I hear his soft, muffled cries. And every morning, I lay my head gently on his arm and hope—hope he’ll be okay.

The rest of the day usually goes pretty well. We make breakfast, sometimes right here in the van, and sometimes we go out. Then we go on a walk, which I really enjoy doing. I think Joe likes it too. After that we just drive around without any particular plan. Windows down. Music low. Just us and the road.

We lived in a van ever since Mary left. I don’t know where she is, but I can’t wait until she comes back. I miss her voice. It was always warm like sunlight. I think Joe misses her too. He talks about her a lot. And whenever he does, his voice cracks, and I can hear his heart beating faster. That’s when I always climb onto his lap, sit still, and let him know I’m here.

So life in a van is pretty cozy. Atleased for me. Yea, I do miss living in our old house, but I like it here too. Especially with Joe.

As long as we’re together, it feels like home.
