POEM STARTER

Confession.

Write a poem, with a set structure, which centres around the theme of confession.

confessions

I’m not where I want to be.

I’m not same girl in my reflection that mirrors the concept of ‘me’

Truth be told, I’m a romantic wanderer,

Looking for love in the wrong places while I lose my self-worth that I have yet to conquer.

Confessions

I don’t know what I’m doing,

But I hope I’m doing it correctly.

I hope the people I love give me the grace to grow while I figure things out hesitantly.

Confessions

Most days I feel like I’m drowning,

But you’d never know because I’m always smiling.

I can give great advice about your life and not mine,

Knowing damn well I’m a mess and im not fine.

Confessions

I say I’m a perfectionist but I get tired quickly and lose focus too soon

Sometimes it’s my ADHD, I mean my Adderall, I get nervous and go back inside my self made cocoon

Confessions

I don’t like my image

So I cover it up with padded bras and tiny pink thongs

So that the distortion fits my cognitive dissonance

Confessions

Im not a great writer

I’m good at the very least

But its only because I yet to learn to let loose and unleash
