STORY STARTER
Write a poem that includes this line:
'The mask is slipping'.
Still Bleeding
Tw: Eating disorder, suicidal ideation
Pretty white lies can only last for so long,
Thick outer coats when it’s scorching hot,
Yeah I know,
When they start to realize,
You only sink deeper,
Refuse to walk in the sun,
To look at the mirror,
Sweatpants galore while you stare at her,
Wish you were thinner,
Does the pain never stop,
Is the grass always greener,
Know the day you will die,
Have it marked down in blood,
A constant reminder,
It’s all getting to much,
Can’t face your own face,
But you still cry in the mirror,
The mask is slipping,
They’re all seeing,
The box you have built,
On countless sleepless nights,
It’s turning to glass,
And they’re tearing it down,
All your hopes and your dreams,
They don’t care,
They never did,
You can want what you want,
But in the end it doesn’t matter,
All they see is the charts and the numbers,
Their precious equations,
You’ll learn to play the game,
You’ll lie to the doctors,
They’ll send you home,
Tell you your better,
Well this isn’t better,
No way that it is,
It’s just survival,
So no your not better,
Your still broken as ever,
But they think you are,
And really that’s fine,
Because you can build back up the walls,
And now you know how to play the part,
Of the healing,
When really,
You’re still bleeding.
