Standing before the altar deep within the jungle, Jara gazed upon the statues adorning the small hill. _He_ bowed before them, thinking of himself as one of the Gods. He began chanting the sacred words, “Oh ye faithful, joyful, and triumphant,” repeatedly. These were the sacred words of the Gods known as Humans.

There were many of them. One was a man wearing a hat and carrying brightly colored tools. It was said that he built the roads and bridges that covered their world. They were strong, hardworking, and skilled.

Another was a man with a badge on his chest and a weapon to fight off the evil ones. They were capable of restraining and locking away the bad people who hurt others. They were fierce and had transportation with bright lights to let them go wherever they wanted.

The most prominent of all was the one that people feared the most. He wore nothing that made them stand out, but he was said to control all. He was called the politician. He wore fancy dress and told others what to do by manipulating all the others, the humans.

These mythical creatures were said to inhabit the earth at one time. They had roles and positions that allowed them to do things, and now they were considered Gods. They lived on through these statues, and people bowed to them. But Jara thought that maybe they were the ones who had ruined so much that they had to restore. Restore peace to the planet and bring life back.

Yes, they were mythical creatures, but if they weren’t, they had left everything in ruins for them to clean up. If they did exist, he was glad they were gone. Even if they were honored as gods, he only honored them because if he didn’t, he would be punished.
