Waking up in a strange place is almost always never a fun time, this was no exception. I open my eyes to finds myself in a dark room chained to a wall by my left hand, with nothing but a flickering lightbulb overhead for light. I knew when I aligned myself with these people it wasn’t a great idea but I didn’t think something like this would happen so soon. Before I even have time to process his surroundings fully the sound of heavy footsteps approaching fills the room with echos. In my panic I try and stand up to no avail.

The footsteps stop. Followed by the sound of keys fumbling into a lock and turning. “God this place must be old”I think, which usually isn’t a good sign. Old places tend to be unknown. As the door opens I see my team leader step in. “Oh Palo, we really appreciate all you did for us on your last mission.” This look of disgust and appreciation smeared across his face as he finishes with “but did you really think you were the one in control?” And that was the moment I realized it wasn’t ever the plan for me to make it out alive.
