When I look in the mirror, I see someone staring back at me. But it isn’t me looking from the mirror.

It’s a young girl standing in a field of flowers. Dressed in a white floral gown with her golden hair tied in a neat bun on the top of her head. She held a basket filled with brightly colored wildflowers.

As I stared into her ice blue eyes, I wondered what happened to her to make her end up like me.

Perhaps it was age that hardened me. Or maybe it was the realization that the world isn’t everything it seems. That it’s both a cruel and sweet world, living in harmony.

She laughed as a rabbit skittered up to her. Bending down, she picked it up and stroked the fur on its head.

I stared down at my own hands, but they held no rabbit anymore. Not bearing it anymore, I turned away from the mirror.
